jean lab conclusion    

The purpose of this lab was to find the right percentage of bleach to water, so that a pair of jeans would become faded, without destroying them. After testing this experiment i came to the conclusion that a 50% solution is best for fading jeans without making them to white, or without damaging the fabric. Our date shows that this is the best solution, because it lost the most color without getting damaged. On our graph the % of the amount of color loss, or damage were in a steady line. Bleach is a natural cleaner that causes most clothing other things to loose their color, when bleach is applied, do to its intense chemicals. evidence to prove this is the fact that most people will put bleach into their washing machines to help clean their clothes, but often times the clothes come out with spots on lighter color, or sometimes the whole piece of clothing will be a different color. fading clothes using bleach is an effective strategy, if you know the right measurements and have enough evidence to support your claim of how much bleach should be added to give you the perfect color of denim without possibly ruining the fabric.

although we came to a good conclusion, our data was unexpected because we made some mistakes. we messed up at the beginning of the lab by not putting all the jean pieces in the bleach solution at the same time. we also didn't have enough time at the end of the experiment to finish the rinse cycle of the jean pieces to rinse off the remaining bleach. these errors may have affected our data because not all of the jean pieces had the same amount of time in the bleach, or sitting out to absorb. the data may have also been affected because the pieces didn't get rinsed all 3 times. this may have meant there was extra bleach on the jean pieces, possibly causing the results to be different.

lastly our experiment went very well. If i could do one thing differently next time, i would make sure that all the jean pieces are put in the solutions together. this lab was done to see what solution of bleach to water would best be used to fade a pair of jeans without any visible damage. In this lab i learned how bleach works, and how the different rations of a solution can affect the whole project's outcome. i could use my knowledge from this experiment when my mom makes me do the laundry. now i can understand how much bleach to add.
